This audit allowed hospitals to benchmark diabetes care and to prioritise improvements in service provision that make a real difference to patient experiences and outcomes.

It has been retired as it is no longer relevant. This decision is supported by the National Diabetes Audit (NDA) Programme Executive Board, NDA Partnership Board, NaDIA Advisory Group and Contract Review meeting attendees. Stakeholders across these areas include NHS England, Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership, audit managers from NHS Digital, clinicians, analysts and patient representatives.

This audit has been replaced by the National Diabetes Inpatient Safety Audit.
