Description:
Since 2015 NHSE has collected data on FGM related attendances in healthcare settings. The anonymised data shows the extent of FGM identified by the NHS across England and has informed the establishment of National FGM Support Clinics in locations with the highest need. Minor changes to improve the data quality, completeness and reduce burden are urgently required as detailed:
  • 9 x data items deleted
  • 1 x data item added
  • 12 x data item changes
  • Updates to the Specification, Requirement Specification and Implementation Guidance
These changes are the result of a DHSC-commissioned review by NHSE in 2022. Significant stakeholder engagement has been undertaken over the past 4 years, starting with data providers in 2022, a group of key stakeholders and users of the data in 2023, and GPs in 2024, culminating in a far-reaching public consultation and focus groups with women affected by FGM.
